Over the last two years I reworked my powerpoints. In the past they mirrored the chapters and the content within Campbell's Biology. The revised powerpoints are now aligned with the new AP Curriculum Framework (Big Ideas, Enduring Understandings and Essential Knowledge). I simply cut my old powerpoints into sections and pasted them into the new framework with the Essential Knowledge dictating the content and added new material where it was needed.
BUT HERE IS THE CRUX, PLEASE READ!
The powerpoints on my website are, I feel, thorough and comprehensive so that students have multiple examples and deeper explanations that will increase comprehension. HOWEVER, the ESSENTIAL UNDERSTANDINGS SHOULD BE YOUR GUIDE NOT THE POWERPOINTS THEMSELVES, the Essential Understandings tell you what you must know or be able to do. OFTEN TIMES MY POWERPOINTS GO DEEPER, BROADER OR PROVIDE MORE EXAMPLES THAN ARE REQUIRED BY COLLEGE BOARD. YOU CAN TRY TO LEARN EVERYTHING IN THE POWERPOINTS BUT THE IS THE ESSENTIAL UNDERSTANDINGS THAT REPRESENT THE MINIMUM STANDARDS AND EXPECTATIONS. Powerpoints are resources, they are not the curricular framework.
